Today is Day 1 of our Whole30 journey! For the next 30 days, we will be following the Whole30 guidelines and blogging about our experience.
So what does the Whole30 program entail? In a nutshell, the program calls for the removal of grains, added sugar, alcohol, legumes, and dairy from your diet -- all foods that tend towards having an unhealthy physical or psychological response in our bodies.
Why are we doing it? We want to start the new year fresh, establish some healthier habits, and challenge ourselves! We're both aware that physical health starts in the kitchen. Jess completed a Whole30 April 17-May 16, 2017 with astounding results (we're talking an easy-peasy 15lb weight loss, and the world's worst sleeper consistently staying asleep for 8 hours a night, among many other non-scale victories). Check out the before and after! Barbara is familiar with the low carb approach and ketogenic diet and wants to see how she will feel on Whole30. We both want to slay our Sugar Dragon! (That's Whole30 speak for "sugar addiction").
